Welcome to the  10 Step Story Setup Lesson.

Lesson:
Based on Hollywood scriptwriting methods the 10 Step Story Setup will help students form a solid story foundation.

Richard explains Story Setup using real film examples and then students will watch the short film Troll Busters to look at how the 10 Step Story Setup was used to create it.

Students all also learn what is a logline and how to write one.

Workshop:
Students will team up and fill out their own 10 Step Story Sheet.

Students will learn:

  1. How to analyse the story set up of a student action film.
  2. How to use a 10 Step Story Setup to create a foundation for a film.
  3. What a logline is and how to write one.
  4. How to write and present a film story idea to a class.

Richard Pritchard

With over 10 years experience Richard works as a VFX Artist/Director. He has worked on a wide range of highend commercials and feature films including Happy Feet 1 & 2, The Great Gatsby, Prometheus and Mad Max: Fury Road.Richard has worked in many of Australia’s top film and animation studios including Sydney’s Animal Logic. He also worked for and with Australia's most awarded film director George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road) for six years.
